Music Monday!

Hope you have had a a great weekend! We spent ours by helping my parents move in Little Rock and I played in a tennis tourney there. It was hot and we are tired.

So I decided to start "Music Mondays" I would like to share with you an artist each week that I enjoy. For the first, I would like to start off with an artist I found a little while back. I still love them a ton. They are a band a little less familiar, but I think they are great.

Style: Indie Folk
Artist: Blind Pilot
Album: 3 Rounds and a Sound
Song: One Red Thread

Bid Day 2010

This past week my sister has been going through rush or now known as formal recruitment. This week as many know is very stressful. It was no different for my sis. This past Saturday was Bid Day at the U of A. I went through rush 8 years ago and felt just as excited for Meg. I was a pi phi, but wanted Meg to be whatever she wanted. Unfortunately, so many girls were going through she didn't have much of choice because she was a legacy to pi phi. The outcome could have not been any better.

I may or may not have teared up a little when I saw her. Pure Joy.

so happy!!!

best friends and now pi phi sisters!

I have waited 8 years for this!

Happy mom and sis

Congrats to my sis. The reason I'm overjoyed for her is because I had such a wonderful experience. I made some of my lifelong friends that I would have otherwise not met. I deepened my relationship with acquaintances and other friends. It was such a fun time and I would love to go back any day.

GrooveShark

I love music. I love Itunes, I love Pandora, I love my ipod. I love finding new music too. I may or may not watch vh1 "jump start" in the mornings to see if I can hear a new song. Who knows?
All that too say, I have found a NEW love.
It's called GrooveShark.  It is much like pandora, except you get to choose what you want to listen to. You can make playlists to your liking. It's amazing you should try it out. Oh and the best part, it's all FREE!
So go try it out.
I'm also thinking about posting a song of the week. Please leave me a comment if you think that would be something you would enjoy or like!
Thanks and Happy Thursday!

A packed weekend

Well we we had a wonderful anniversary weekend getaway that was spent in Branson. We ate at a FABULOUS new steakhouse at the Hilton down at the Branson landing. It was called level 2. and was much like a Ruth's Chris. It was soo yummy. I had a filet w/ broccolini and garlic mashed potatoes. Then for dessert we had the Missouri butter cake. Umm one word- Incredible. It melted in my mouth. It had this caramel bourbon sauce that had melted down into it topped with fruit. This dinner was definitely one to remember. We had great conversation and a blast thinking back on the past 5 years. On Friday we shopped til we dropped at the outlet mall. We found some good deals on clothes which was our anniversary present to each other.
Later that day we headed to a lake house on table rock lake to meet up with our community group. It was one of our friends, parents lake house that was also incredible. We had a blast hanging out, eating, and playing on the water.

On Saturday night we grilled out and then Marc and I had to head back to Fay town because my parents were in town to move in my little sis on Sunday.
The long awaited 8 years is FINALLY over for me. We get to live in the same place now which is so exciting. Sunday we spent unpacking a dorm room and getting the necessary supplies needed to survive at college (aka, food!)
My mom stayed until this morning and I took a half day of work yesterday so that I could spend time with her. We haven't done that in awhile so that was nice hanging out together. We de-stressed by shopping, eating mexican, and going to see the movie Eat, Pray, Love.

Now I'm exhausted. So I will leave you with some pics.

auto-timer and awkward. This is our only 5yr pic.

5 years and counting...

Happy Anniversary to us! Today marks our 5 year anniversary. I seriously can't believe it. I know that sounds cliched but, seriously I'm 26 and have been married 5 years, What? Where does time go. I guess time flies when you're having fun. Fun is exactly what the past 5 yrs have been. Marc and I have enjoyed our time together very much. We love being spontaneous and being able to go and do whatever the heck we want.
We are by no means perfect people, but I would have to say we are pretty perfect together. We have very minimal fights, mainly because we don't like drama or being upset. We learned early on in our marriage how to handle each other...aka Marc learned how to deal with me. Ha
I'm so thankful to have a husband that loves and cherishes me for who I am. He is my rock and keeps me grounded in so many areas of life. He respects me and lives his life above reproach. He takes care of me and provides for or family. He takes care of our bills and all the not fun stuff in life and never ever complains about that or better yet anything else. I can't wait for then next many, many years together. He will make such a great father.
It was definitely love at first sight for me. Not for him, but for me. I was obsessed, smitten, crazy, stalkerish. I will admit it was not normal. I even felt crazy because I had never ever acted like that. Good thing the Lord took care of the rest of the story. I can't imagine life without him. He is my world.

Here are some pictures to look back at our wedding. We got married in Little Rock at my old church that I grew up in and where my parents got married. It was a special place for me to be able to have it there.

You can read the story of how we met and see more pics of our wedding day in this post HERE.

Marc, thanks for marrying me. I love you!

Back to School Giveaway!

I know several people are in a rush getting ready for back to school. Some are taking their kids for the 1st time to Kindergarten, while some are taking their babies to college. I on other hand do not fit in any of those categories or in between but yet still feel overwhelmed for some reason. Fayetteville is always much busier this time of year with school and football fast approaching. Its fun for the town to be hopping again, but that comes with more lines and traffic.

So to make our lives a little easier, Sam's club is having a Back-to School event! You can get a head start on your shopping and you can also find Box Tops on various participating General Mills products. Box tops are ways local schools can make money. I used to collect them for my school I used to teach at, which was Fayetteville Creative School. We would make several hundred dollars each year by collecting them and its fun for the kiddos to collect! Hopefully your school or somebody you know has school that participates.
Sam’s Club is giving you the opportunity to earn even more Box Tops when you upgrade to a “Plus Membership.” From Aug. 6 – Aug. 31, or while supplies last. If you upgrade, you will receive a certificate for 150 Bonus Box Tops! For more information on how you can take advantage of the Back-to-School event at Sam’s Club, visit http://www.samsclub.com/ today!

I am also giving away a $25 gift card to Sam's. It could help with any back-to-school needs or for buying supplies to re-stock in your house for the fall!

To Enter:
1. You must be a follower!

2. Leave me a comment letting me know which General Mills Box Tops items you might plan to purchase during the Sam’s Club Back-To-School event OR name your must-have item from Sam’s Club during this time of the year!!!

Since the back-to-school season seems so rushed, so is this giveaway! You have only 24 hours to enter. Winner will be announced tomorrow night (Wed 8.11.10) at 9pm! Good luck.
Who doesn't love free $$ to Sam's?

*This giveaway was given to me from Sam’s Club and General Mills through MyBlogSpark.

One Adventurous Trip

The last weekend we headed to the lake. This recent trip to the lake proved to be definitely the most adventurous.
For starters, we stopped in Alma to eat at the Red Rooster bistro. This place is one of my faves. They have  amazing homemade bread called rooster bread and yummy homemade pies that are to die for. While in line to pay for our meal, a man drops a freaking gun out of his shorts. Like it just fell to the ground. Thankfully it did not go off, but if it had we would have been toast. Like seriously, who does that?
Secondly, we had to stop for gas. While we were at the gas station,  Marc decided to go get some lottery tickets since it was my birthday and all. He got one for everyone and I think we won $3. Then Ben, (you know the guy in the video I posted about a few days ago) he came to the car with 3 more lottery tickets. Kara, Louise an I started scratching them off. Mine said if you get 3 matching #'s you're a winner. Well mine had 3 $20,000 on it so I began freaking out just as anyone else would have. I ran it inside to see if it was really a winning ticket. (the whole time thinking there has to be a catch)! Well there was, Ben had given me a FAKE ticket. It was hilarious and they were all dying laughing. It really was a great joke and the perfect time to break it out. Unfortunately, the joke was on me. Nonetheless it was hilarious.
Next thing I know we are getting on the interstate and the boys were ahead of us in Matt's truck. They had pulled over to pick up a hitch-hiker. Us girls in the other car were a little nervous since we had just seen a gun and all. It turned out to be fine. The guy was actually a believer and they all had a great conversation  him. They then drove him all the way to Conway, took him to walmart (got him a tent and other useful supplies), got him food and a hotel room. It was a great experience for all. (Thankfully!)
We finally made it to the lake later and had a great, restful weekend.

Well it's not over yet. On our return home we were driving some back roads suddenly saw a car flipped over on the side in a ditch. (we did not actually see the wreck happen.) We were the first to arrive at the scene. So we all ran over there and then Marc called 911. The guy was fine but very intoxicated and maybe even a little high. Who knows. He was definitely an interesting guy. He said to Matt, "Just go ahead and flip me back over and I will be on my way." While waiting for help to arrive and while he was still "stuck" in his car he popped open a beer right then and there. I mean, wowzers.

Here are some pics.

Ironic much?
A .357 is a gun. Pretty sure we saw this right after Marc dialed 911. Ha!

Just a few bumps and bruises and Angel was on his way.
Yes, Angel was his name.

The end.
