Silly Shenanigans

This past weekend while we are at the lake, and our good friend Ben fell asleep in the recliner. We were all playing cards and then his wife and I decided that something for sure should happen to him. We first tried to wave a big fatty piece of meat in front of his nose and that did nothing. He didn't even flinch. Second, we told everyone to scream on 3.

and this is what happened.....the most AMAZING response ever!

You should watch it again, I think it becomes more funny the more you watch!

I peed my pants a little for sure. Sorry for the terrible shaking, but I could not control my laughing. Louise obviously couldn't either! This seriously made my weekend and I still watch it and laugh!
Hope you enjoyed!

First taste

The other day I received this in my mailbox!

A booklet of really great coupons.  Not just a few cents off, but they were all free! I was super excited. Again, I love free stuff!

It all came from kraft first taste. I had signed up a long time ago and filled out maybe 2 short surveys for them. They will send me random emails letting me know when new offers are available and if I would like to participate. All I have to do is click the box, yes and a coupon for free food is on its way!

Here were all the products I received. It equals about a $20 value.

It is completely free to sign up. Go to http://www.kraftfirsttaste.com/about/default.aspx to sign up! It's worth it if you like free stuff! Just though you all should know. All of these things were super yummy too. (And no i'm not getting paid to send you to this link or to tell you about it, I just really liked it all!)

Also, I found this blog today who just did a review on 30 money saving apps. http://couponcravings.com/category/iphone-apps. I had not heard of several of them and people call me the app guru, so you might want to check it out. I really liked about 10 out of the 30, but already had some that were mentioned. She is also doing a giveaway for a an ipod touch! http://couponcravings.com/2010/07/30-free-moneysaving-apps-ipod-touch-giveaway.html . (giveaway ends thursday 7/29)

Happy, Happy Birthday!

Today is my hubby's 27th birthday!!!
I just wanted to give him a little shout out. I love that our birthdays are so close together because I feel like we get to celebrate a lot during the month of July!

Marc,
Thanks for being the most wonderful husband a girl could ever ask for. Thanks for working your tail off to provide for me. Thanks for being a leader. Thanks for being my best friend. Thanks for putting up with me and all my ridiculousness. Thanks for loving me and making it easy to love you back. Thanks for being trustworthy and dependable. Thanks for being so giving and willing to help others.
I'm pretty sure I have no clue what I would do without you. Thanks for the past 5 years. I'm looking forward to the next many more years with you!

Just to brag a little- Marc has picked up 2 people off the side of the road in the past 3 days. One was a hitchhiker and one had been beat really bad. His heart is so huge and I'm so thankful! He gives God all the glory.

Here is a pic from this past weekend. Our good friend Matt shares a July birthday with us (his is on thursday 7/29) for the past couple years we have gone to my parents lake house to celebrate all of our birthdays. My sweet mom and dad always get us a cake from mickey's in Little Rock.

Birthday Swag

Today is my 26th birthday! I'm not writing this post so everyone will wish me a happy birthday, but I'm writing it to tell you about some fun swag (stuff we all get) you can get during your birthday month!
So I read the "Passions for Savings" blog and it gave me some great tips for getting some free things. And I love free things, especially when it comes to food! Ha. Most of these things arrived in my mailbox at the very beginning of the month which makes it more fun and I have longer to use it.

In the past month, I have received:

Mimi's Cafe- $10 off if I spend $20.
Noodles Italian Kitchen- $10 off my bill. Plus Marc got one, so $20!
Marketplace- Free chocolate mess and 20% off my total bill. Also, if you have not signed up for their reward program, it is phenomenal. Definitely worth the $5 and one of my faves. Just ask for one the next time you go in and sign up for their emails. It will not disappoint.
Red Robin- free burger!
Starbucks- free drink of any kind!
Great American Cookie- free cookie cake slice! Holla!

These were all the really good ones, so sign up for their email list or e-club and you can have swag on your birthday too!

Last night I celebrated with lots of fun girls by going out to eat at an Italian place called Geraldi's in Fayetteville. This weekend we will be celebrating with my family. Then it will be Marc's birthday on Tuesday! We are 1 year and 4 days apart. Glad he is older. Ha.

Literally

Marc showed me this video the other day and I think it's hilarious! People use real music videos and re-record it by singing what is literally going on.
Just watch it.

This one here is my fave because it is so weird and hilarious! It is also a song that was done at my U of A freshman orientation. Anyone remember the skit "Turn Around?" it was about drugs and drinking and such. Probably one of my favorite memories of college that will never be forgotten, thanks to this song!

There is another one done to a creed vidoe which is also pretty good!
Enjoy and Happy Tuesday!

Updates!

So the finger is way better. Pretty much all the way healed which I'm so thankful to still have. Never have I been so thankful for all 10 fingers.

In the meantime I'm looking at some new settings which is way fun considering I never looked at rings before we got married.

In other news, I found these fun chairs at target!

I recently sold my table and chairs because it just didn't fit that well and took up the whole deck. So I've been on a hunt to find some chairs and love seat. These chairs were only $6.00! I couldn't believe it. They were $40 so I got such a steal. I was pretty proud. I'm still on the lookout for a double chair or love seat to ad to it and maybe a small table. Let me know if you see some on sale!
Happy weekend!

Bad habits: Take 2

So as my finger got better yesterday, I wanted to see if  my ring would go on (side note- I was very concerned with it never fitting again). I put it on at 8pm and then tried to take it off at 11pm. Well the good news is it did go on pretty smoothly but did come off quite as easy. As I tried to take it off, it wasn't budging. Apparently the infection wasn't gone in my finger and it had been swelling the whole time it was on for those 3 hours.

I tried lotion, olive oil, prep h, etc I pulled and yanked. Then I iced it for awhile to get the swelling down. Marc googled home remedies of how to remove a tight ring and everyone said to try windex and that it usually works. So as our last resort, we poured some windex on it and he yanked and pulled while I screamed. We got really close, but it just wasn't going to budge. Then the MAJOR swelling happened. It was terrible. I was beginning to panic and cry majorly. I didn't know what the heck I was going to do. We really did not want to go to the e.r. or have to have it cut, but we were very concerned with it swelling through the night and it cutting off my circulation. I really did not want to lose my finger.

ouch

nasty

About 1am we headed to the e.r and they had to cut. I didn't even care, I just wanted it off my finger.
This picture is so so sad to me.

They then sent us back to the waiting room to wait to see the doctor for the infection. After waiting about an hour, we decided to go home and get some sleep because no one was being called back. It was also storming terribly bad which made the power go out and they were running on a generator. I went to sleep around 4 and got up this morning and went to a clinic and got some antibiotic for the nasty, evil infection.

So there you have it. This girl will no longer be picking her cuticles. One bad habit down, 2 more to go.

Bad habits are Infectious

We all have them. For some it's biting nails, picking split ends, or maybe it's picking your cuticles. I would say my 3 terrible bad habits are picking my cuticles, picking my split ends, and the third is crinkling paper. (If you ever went to school with me you know what this is, if not well just be glad because it's super annoying)!

So my cuticles are always for the most part picked, you know red, bloody, scabbed over etc. You get the point. Well the other day I had picked both sides of my cuticle on one nail. So each side of was nasty. Side note- when they are really bad I pour hydrogen peroxide on them to prevent infection. It usually works well.
Well this weekend I was at the lake and because my nail was so messed up it got infected. Like real bad. I hadn't noticed for a couple of days and then tried to put my wedding rings on and couldn't get them on. This was the first time that ever happened and I knew there was a problem. I finally was able to get them off somehow. My finger was really swollen and red after that. It was definitely infected.
I debated on going to a walk in clinic but they were already closed since it was Sunday and thought I would wait it out till the next morning. It looked so much better.

Today it was a little better. As you can see some of the puffiness had gone down.

I treated it with hydrogen peroxide, neosporin, and my
Mother in law told me to mix baking soda and water together which makes a paste and sucks out infection apparently.

So the moral of this story is for me to quit picking my fingernails and kick this bad habit.

To be continued...
I will give you a hint. It involves the er.

4th of July fun!

Every year we head to the lake for the 4th! Its always a blast. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at the lake for the 4th. Our friends the Hartnesses came and my good friend Jennie J came as well! It was our cruise reunion. Unfortuantely Justin, Jennie's husband coudn't get off work, but it was still a blast seeing her considering she drove 11 hrs from Austin, Tx. She is so fun and always entertaining! I miss her so much and we wished they lived in NWA!

Jennie rockin it on the boat!

The house was full of friends, family and neighbors. We had a great time and had lots of yummy food. We also went to watch a couple of firework shows on the lake which was also super fun.

Hope everyone else had a great 4th of July! Thanks to all those who serve our country and make daily sacrifices for us.
