Big Cedar Weekend

We had a blast this past weekend with our friends Marc's dad and step mom and with our good friends/neighbors,  the Hartnesses. We had this planned for several months and then it jut so happened that Marc's dad would be there at the same time to celebrate their anniversary.
We ate tons of yummy food, did a little shopping, played lots Nertz (card game), and got to take a nap! It was so nice to get away from all the hustle and bustle. And Big Cedar is such a beautiful place to get away to.

Thanks honey for a wonderful trip away!

A get-away

Now for some happy... Obviously it was a rough week last week, but thankfully I had already planned a trip with my mom back in the summer to Austin, TX to see my good friend! It just so happened to be the best timing ever for me. I would still be way down in the dumps if I had not gone.
I went to visit my friend from middle school-high school. I would say I have kept up with her the most since we got out of high school and we unfortunately did not attend the same college.
Even though she lives in Austin, I have been able to see her at least a couple of times a year.
We had so much fun. Did lots of shopping, eating, and chatting! It was the perfect girls trip.

my favorite dessert place of all time.... gordoughs. Yep its darn good and darn unhealthy, but who is counting calories on vacay anyways ;)

my mom even liked it and she doesn't even like sweets.

the shopping damage... sorry dad and Marc. We got lots of Christmas shopping done though

and last but not least, her precious daughter Willow. She was our entertainment for the weekend!

We did so many more things that I did not take pictures of. All I know is I'm in love with Austin and could move there at any time! I even told Marc I found us a house ;). It reminds me of Fayetteville, AR on crack! Ha.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. Thanks for your sweet comments and emails. They meant a lot to me. I'm really doing much better.

NYC bound

I'm so excited, last week Marc booked me a flight to NYC! He will already be working there during the week and I will fly out on the weekend so we can spend it together. Thankfully we had some free miles to use so it was a free trip for us to get there!
I never thought in a million years I would go to New York with Marc because he hates crowded places with lots of people, and does not enjoy large, busy cities. So it should be interesting. Ha!
I have been 2 other times, one with my fam and one time for a wedding and loved it both times.

If you have ever been, where is a good place to stay and what are some must-do's that are not-so-costly? {Medical bills and car bills are taking over our budget at a brisk pace right now}so we have to do this trip cheap! Our birthdays will be the very next week, so I'm pretending like it's our b-day trip!

I'm super excited to have a little get away, because this week has just about done me in. It has definitely been one of the more difficult ones. I will try to explain another day. For now, I'm just thankful to have something to look forward too.

Please leave me a comment telling me some things we should do!

Our little Vacay

Marc and I just got back from Keystone, Co.! We had such a blast getting away and spending some time together. It was perfect, everything about the trip. We had a blast skiing together an we were able to keep up with each other the whole time. We had some amazing food and amazing ski weather. It actually had snowed the 3 days before we got there so we had fresh powder and nicely groomed slopes. The second day we skied was beautiful, it was sunny and about 50 degrees . We missed all the spring breakers, which was fabulous not to have to wait in any lines and we had most runs to ourselves.

Funny side story about Marc- While we were waiting in line at the airport to go through security, there was a lady of another color and she said to me "honey, yo husband is HOTT, why don't you just come over here while I open this line up for y'all, oh and you're pretty cute too!" HA, that made me laugh so hard. I told her I though he was pretty cute myself and to back off (ok not really that last part)

 we love us some Colorado

Another side story- the 1st night we arrived, we got there super late and got to where we were staying which is not at all what we thought it wold be. It was so AWFUL. First of all it had a murphy bed, you know the ones that fold up into the wall. It felt like a brick. Secondly, it was hot as a mug, no a.c. in Co apparently. Thirdly, it was so windy that the howling kept us awake all night. It almost sounded like a woman screaming. So at 6am, we called and said we have to move rooms, so they said for $15 they could upgrade us to a much nicer resort. Praise Jesus. It was the best $15 we could have ever spent. Seriously!

this little condo that was super nice and cozy.

Our last night we went in to Breckenridge and ate at a yummy pizza place and then shopped around. The town is so cute and we found a super cute cupcake shop and got these yummy little treats for later!

All in all it was a wonderful trip. I absolutely love vacations and this was just what we needed. I feel incredibly refreshed and feel like I can survive another month of this battle with infertility.

dallas girls weekend

I went to dallas a few weekends ago to visit my friend Heather. I first made a stop in Norman, OK to pick up Liz. Well I stayed with her a night, then we headed to see Heather. We were all pi phi's together and lived next door in the house. We are those kind of friends that don't necessarily have to talk every week, but we just pick up wherever we left off and are always there for each other. I have had the privilege of being in both of their weddings and I miss them so very much. I'm so thankful for having amazing friends to walk through life with together. I really wish we could live in the same city, but no, we all live 3-5 hours away from each other! Oh well, maybe someday.
We had a blast! We did lots of eating and shopping. We shopped at the Allen outlets in Allen, TX. It has every store you could want and more! Too bad it was spring break and packed out.

It was so good to see them, I wish I could do it every weekend (or every other, Marc might get a little tired of that if I left him every weekend!)

1 Week

from today I will be hopping on a plane to cold, Colorado! Marc and I spontaneously booked a trip last week. We both LOVE to snow ski and we haven't been since college my sophomore year (2004...yikes I'm getting old). We are basically the same level, so its easy for us to ski together. We are hoping to still have snow once we get there, but the good news is we will have missed all the spring breakers, and hopefully we haven't forgotten how to actually ski!
I'm really looking forward to getting away. This will be so refreshing and it will be the first time Marc and I have gone on a trip by ourselves since our honeymoon!

If you have ever been there, what are some of the best places to eat? A good dinner place is a must for us when we travel!

Vegas Baby!

Well I secretly snuck away to Vegas this past weekend with some friends. It was soo last minute and probably the most spontaneous thing I have ever done, but it was such a BLAST. It was my first time, so I was way overwhelmed with all of the sights! We spent one day at the Bellagio spa which was just incredible and just what I needed after a crappy week.  We did some gambling and lots of walking around. I was amazed at all of the casino and resorts there. They are all so elaborate and wonderful. It makes me think of cruise ships on steroids. Ha!

We also tried out Serendipity 3 (same as the one in NYC)!!!

It was super yummy!

We also went to the Cirque de Soleil Love show. It was awesome and plus I love me some Beatles music!
Sorry, I have no really great pics, because I definitely forgot my camera in the midst of my lack of planning for this trip. Oh well, I always have the images in my head!

On a different note...

Sorry I've been a little MIA in the blog world. I have just felt a little un-inspired lately. I have lots of posts that I write in my head but I just never sit down and take the time to do them, nor am I brave enough to actually post them on here. I hope to start writing about it soon though. Thanks for sticking with me all you faithful blog readers.

Dallas

We had a wonderful weekend in Dallas this past weekend with some of our friends. We shopped, ate a lot, watched the hogs play in jerrys world (which is amazing) and we went to six flags. If you know me, you know I absolutely love rides.
It was a great time. We woke up Sunday morning and randomly decided to go. I'm glad we did because I know we won't be able to do that forever.
Here are a few pics. I will post more later!

New hog shirts! Check.

We had the privilege of setting in a suite, which made the cowboy stadium even better!

love this guy! Such a trooper after 1 too many times on the titan!

And we got sprinkles to go! Yum.

The perfect ending to a perfect weekend.

Branson get away

This weekend Marc and I had the opportunity to have a little get away to branson. It was so nice to have some time together!
We definitely experienced Branson this time, which is something we haven't really ever done.
We got there around 1pm on Friday afternoon and went straight to the tanger outlet mall. Marc ended up finding some great deals on clothes and pretty much got a whole new wardrobe! I absolutely love shopping for him because he NEVER buys himself anything.
Friday night we were given tickets to the Branson Showboat Belle. Ha! No laughing. It wasn't that bad, we actually kind of liked it and we got to meet a really sweet old couple.
Saturday we went to Silver dollar city and enjoyed a full day there. I love rides, so I loved it, not so sure the hubby loved it. He has a weak stomach and doesn't love crowds so much. We also got to do a cooking class there, which was super fun! I learned lots of new tricks for in the kitchen... (no laughing marc and family)
Saturday night we went to the landing and shopped some more. We also ate a nice dinner at Cantina Laredo.
Sunday we woke up and went to Big Cedar to eat brunch at the Worman house. If you have never been there, we would HIGHLY recommend it because it is an awesome experience. Its massive, so massive that it was the only meal we ate at all the whole day.
We also had the best table in the whole place. It was on the balcony, except we had our own private little spot! It was gorgeous weather which made it all the more perfect!
Marc and I had a great time re-connecting and just spending time just the two of us which is rare, but very important. I feel that it keeps a marriage very healthy by getting away at least once a year for a couple a days ALONE!
